Collection: Spring 24 - "Emerging"

"Emerging" is a new body of work exploring a journey of self discovery. During the past year I’ve made a lot of big changes in my life, and I’ve had to work a lot on my own emotions and relationship to myself. This journey is reflected in this collection, which is deeply personal.

In painting these artworks I've followed a completely intuitive process, reflecting my inner state at the moment of painting. I never know where I'll end up when I start a new piece, which is expressed in the variation of colours and structures of this collection. Every colour choice and brush stroke is intentional, although often not conciously available to me in that moment. Working on one piece for several days, weeks or months I create layer upon layer reflecting different emotions. This process results in every piece telling a unique affective story, which becomes more clear to me when taking a step back. 

Each painting in this collection has a title that reflects emotions and moods that I can see through the layers influenced that particular painting. These artworks express feelings of calm, clarity and acceptance, as well as the solitude and courage necessary for connecting with yourself.

Through these abstract landscapes I invite you as a viewer to connect with your own internal landscape and notice what emotions the artwork evokes within you. Maybe some of the paintings can inspire you on your own inner journey of becoming closer to yourself.
